End Of An Era

So I'm working on a new addition to the site, "Must-Haves For Collectors" (it won't be published until I get around to finishing my collection room), and waiting on the final episode of Justice League Unlimited to air in a couple of hours. I really hate that Cartoon Network decided against renewing this series. I've been watching the Bruce Timm DCAU since it first began over a decade ago, and the writing these days is way better than most live-action television. I only hope Warner Bros. Animation eventually decides to resurrect the DCAU in some form, with or without Cartoon Network.

Free Comic Book Day, 2006

So yesterday was Free Comic Book Day, and I made the trip over to Heroes Aren't Hard To Find. I planned on buying a few things to go along with my free selections, but the line inside the store was crazy long. I'll make up for it when I go back on Wednesday. Anyway, Dexter Vines was there doing free sketches, but I was more interested in getting him to sign my Superman/Batman hardcover. After standing in line for over two hours, I really wanted to get out of there, so I passed on the sketch. He was doing great work, but this was 4:30, the artists were scheduled to leave at 5:00, and there were two little kids in line behind me. I was content with the signature, and now I'm hoping to get Ed McGuinness to sign it at the Heroes Convention next month.

A Hobby Fix

As I was looking for some deals on the Monogram International Justice League mini paper weights - or "micro busts", as some collectors call them - last night, I noticed that one seller was offering seven different ones. With the Buy It Now prices, the total cost with shipping was going to be just under an average of ten bucks each. I only meant to buy one or two, but how could I resist? So I bought Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Red Tornado, Doctor Fate, the Flash, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl.

There are seven other releases from the line: Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, the Joker, Aquaman, and the Atom. I will, of course, have to acquire those now.

With Mattel being so slow with JLU offerings, I needed some kind of DCAU fix. It's a good thing I spotted them when I did, as these were actually starting to look like fun. I'm hoping this will hold me over until the Heroes Convention next month.
